Planning- Inspirations (Mood board)

To get a better idea of the aesthetics of the music video, Shir and I created these mood boards for each scene. We drew inspiration from details such as the colour scheme, the framing and the lighting in these photos.

Street Scene
Although we think the night lights would be a good fit for the look we're going for, we were worried about how the quality would turn out if we filmed in the dark. We came into an agreement that we would film around sunset (5-6pm) as it is a good compromise and would most likely give the music video and hazy vibe (which we like), but the lighting would also bright enough for us to get high quality footage. We also discussed the location of the street scene and concluded that the urban scene would go with the song as well as how we want the artist to be represented. We very much liked the setting in the movie Lost in Translation, filmed in Tokyo, which gives a lonely big city feeling that we are after. I think we can recreate that in Bangkok.

Record store
Because our genre is indie, it fits with the personality of the artist that she visits places like record stores and underground concerts. We also noticed that there are many scenes filmed in record stores in indie movies (such as High Fidelity, 500 Days of Summer, Ghost World). Furthermore, the cozy and homey interiors of most record shops in Bangkok will trigger nostalgia in the viewers, especially in our target audience (mid 30s).

Supermarket

The lighting of many supermarkets allow us to play with the colour scheme of the music video. The fluorescent lights illuminating from each aisle ties in nicely with the 'urban' and 'city' vibe we're going for in other scenes. The camera will also pick up the almost neon-like colourful products lined up, which is aesthetically pleasing and will also capture the audience's attention.
