Digipak: Font Research
The image, brand and representation of an artist or brand can be and established by the font used in the Digipak. Because of this, selecting the font that best represents our artist is important as it can frame and bring everything together.
In her research, Phoebe wanted to pay homage to the 70's in the representation of our artist. As an era of strong female artists, Phoebe thought it would be appropriate to use the connotations of strength and independence to represent our own artist.
Here are the examples she looked at from that decade:
Personally, I think the bold, outlined font of the 70s fit right into the other style aspects of our project. The colour scheme we used in the music video and website are relatively earth-toned, which more or less defined the colour palette of that decade.
Using the website 'Fonts in use', Phoebe looked further into the fonts used in 70s album covers. Here are the few she selected:
