Uptown Funk (Final Video and Reflection)
Reflection
- How similar is your work to the final product?
I think my final video is quite similar to the final product. Because we did everything almost frame by frame, I think our video turned out quite accurate and precise.
- What did you find difficult or problematic during the SHOOT and the POST-PRODUCTION process?
There was almost no problems during the filming process as a lot of my friends offered to help with being in the music video. However, during editing, we had issues with some parts being offbeat (which is quite a big problem, especially in a video like 'Uptown Funk' where there is a direct relationship between the music and the visuals). For example, in the opening scene where a girl walks to the beat of the music, we underestimated the length of that clip so we had significantly less footage than needed, therefore the final video had some problems with continuity (as we had to reuse the little footage that we had).
- How did you find it working in the group?
Because the groups were chosen by the teacher, I had the experience of working with the people I wouldn't normally work with. I think making this video brought me closer to my classmates as we worked together a lot of the time and had some fun memories. I also liked the dynamic of my group and that each person had a role (at first we did not have clear roles). My group all did the editing on different computers and we agreed that Best's version was the best (haha).
- What lessons can you take into your next project.
Using time more effectively and being more efficient with research and planning. I also learned that we should establish clear roles to avoid confusing and conflict within the group for my next project.
