The Reinvention of Justin Bieber

Following his explosive rise to fame at the age of 14, we watched Justin go from a sweet, pure-hearted kid to a misbehaving rebel called the 'male version of Lindsay Lohan'. He was so hated that at one point, there was a petition to ship him back to Canada (with over 270,000 signatures).

So... Just how troubled was Justin?
  • Publicly urinated in a mop bucket
  • Yelled 'F*** Off Bill Clinton'
  • Publicly wished Anne Frank had been a believer
  • Reckless driving in his neighbourhood
  • Charged with vandalism in Brazil
  • Spent a night in jail
  • Egging his neighbour's house
  • Arrested in Miami beach for DUI
  • Smoked marijuana and took Xanax
  • Got into a fight with Orlando Bloom

Reinvention

January 2015:
  • Justin Bieber appeared on Ellen to surprise her on the birthday. During the show, Justin looked nervous and everything he said seemed rehearse. He also said- "I think it's just cool to be able to laugh at yourself so...I've done some things that might not of been the greatest," he said. "I just want to be able to...kind of just kind own up to some of the things."

  • Later that night, Justin posted an emotional apology video to Facebook. The video was messy and unpolished but honest. "I was not who I was pretending to be, we often pretend to be something we're not as a cover up of what we're truly feeling inside and there was a lot of feelings going on in there, just being young and growing up in this business is hard" he admitted. The video has over 5 million views on his Facebook page.

March 2015
  • Justin Bieber appeared on Comedy Central's 'Roast' where comedians take turns to insult Justin in front of the whole world (and his celebrity friends). The Roast played extremely well into Justin Bieber's reinvention as it shows that Justin can face his critics and laugh about his mistakes. At the end of the night, Justin looked into the camera and said "I look forward to being someone you're proud of... you have my word- I will not end up broken, pathetic, bitter or sitting on someone else's roast. I'm at a moment of change. This is a new day". The message came across as sincere and very mature.

November 2015
  • Justin appeared on James Corden's show 'Carpool Karaoke' looking relaxed, fun and easy going.
